When you think about museum you usually think about a school trip in which there were a bunch of paintings and different works of art. This Museum has those things but this museum adds on multiple layers that fully entrenches you in the museum itself.

Cultural immersion history lesson

When you go to the Samurai museum in Tokyo you not only learn about the various paintings and artwork but curators immerse you in the reason you came to Japan in the first place; culture. The curators explain simple things in Japan such as Shintoism and why the Japanese cut their hair in certain hairstyles to why the Japanese walk on the left side instead right side.

Dress up

Who doesn’t like to dress up. Well, when you first arrive in the museum, you get to manifest Japan’s past. By this, I mean you get to dress up as a Samurai, which makes you feel like you were born back in the Sengoku period. The Samurai props hoist you back in time and make you feel like a daimyo. The curators are really nice in that the pictures are taken by your phone and free of charge. They take so many good poses that this part of the museum pays for itself. This is the main reason why I called this the best Samurai Museum in Tokyo.

Ninja Star Class

Have you ever wanted to learn how to throw a Shuriken? Well.. look no further as this museum not only gives you a history lesson differentiating the samurai from the ninja, but you get to partake in ninja throwing yourself. The class teaches you its all in the flicking of your wrist. People with arthritis beware! If you flick your wrist you will win the ninja star throwing contest at the end.

Souvenirs

I can’t even lie, the souvenir shop was awesome! Not only do we get to throw ninja stars, but we get to buy them now. The souvenir shop had different martial arts weapons in addition to ninja stars you could purchase. Did I mention that you could also buy an authentic samurai sword. It’s only 5000 dollars.
